Where to stay in Chalkidiki
The biggest booking mistake in Chalkidiki is choosing accommodation before choosing the right leg. The first decision is regional: resort ease, freer driving and coves, or the calmer Athos-side gateway rhythm.
Use Sithonia when the point is movement, not convenience
Sithonia is stronger when the trip is really about beach variety, freer driving and a more exploratory coastline instead of one concentrated resort base.
Use the Athos-side gateway for Ammouliani and quieter east-side logic
Ouranoupoli and the Ammouliani side fit slower stays, island day logic and a different travel rhythm from the two western legs.
Do not book by beach photo alone
A good Chalkidiki base should reduce friction across the whole stay, not simply win the first comparison because one beach looks stronger in isolation.
